HISTORY:
The RMS Queen Elizabeth II is a Cunard Line cruise liner named after its predecessor Queen Elizabeth. Standing as the flagship of the Cunard Line from 1969 through until recent year, the Queen Elizabeth II was succeeded by the RMD Queen Marry II in 2004. Considered as one of the final transatlantic ocean liners, the Queen Elizabeth, prior to reconstruction, was the last of the oil-fired passenger steamboats to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
The Queen Elizabeth II took part in the Falklands War in1982, carrying three thousand troops and 650 volunteer crewmen to the South Atlantic. Refitted and prepared for war service in South Hampton, including the installation of three helicopter landing lands, the Queen Elizabeth II became a temporary warship. Returning to England that same year, the Queen Elizabeth II was reconverted to its original role as a passenger service ship.
